Why is the use of pp so popular in car interiors?

  • Low specific weight: 0.91 g/cm3 compared to heavier materials, such as polyester (1,39 g/cm3). This results in a much higher specific volume than polyester. This is important in cases where the weight reduction of cars is a high priority.
  • Recyclability of PP: cars have to be as highly recyclable as possible.
  • The specifications of the fibers can be modified according to the application:
    • Different levels of UV resistance
    • Addition of anti-oxidant
    • Levels of flame retardancy
    • Levels of heat resistance
    • Solution dyed colors: a wide variety of colors is available, and can be matched where necessary.
    • Melting temperature
    • Low shrinkage when used in molded parts
